I took a call from God today
I could only worry
I found it rather odd He’d say
‘Tis a sin to hurry
For patience is a gift I give
To teach a timeless tale
The tale of those who fail to live
And rush to no avail
To reach what anyone can see
They left long in the past
When all I want is all of thee
To live freely at last
Explain the next to the last two lines, please. Gee

People have a tendency to think that if they can just hurry up and achieve this thing, that thing, and another thing, whatever the things are, they will be happy and free of existential confusion, when, as it happens, children seem to have that freedom and none of the things for themselves. The modern world has enslaved the modern generations to unprecedented envy, greed, entitlement, empty promises, and consequential stress.

I love it. So profound and thoroughly spoken.
